I completed a degree in Philosophy at Glasgow University earning an MA before going onto study an LLB with Honours in European Law. Following my training, which included working for a major European firm in Brussels, I set up Alexander McBurney Solicitors in 1997 in order to provide specialist employment law advice as I felt that there was a lack of advice available to people in this important area.
I have always had a keen interest in helping people when their employment rights have been infringed and over the previous 18 years I have appeared before employment tribunals throughout the whole of Scotland on a range of matters, as well as appearing before the employment appeal tribunal. I have a keen interest in helping people who may have been the victims of discrimination and with almost two decades of experience there is no employment topic that I am unfamiliar with.
When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family and reading.
I am a member of the Law Society of Scotland and Scottish Discrimination Lawyers Association. I am also a Notary Public.
